Russian contingent reaches Pakistan for military exercise
RAWALPINDI: A contingent of Russia ground forces has reached Pakistan, here on Friday, to participate in first-ever Pakistan-Russia joint military exercise.
According to ISPR, military personnel of both the countries will participate in two-week joint exercises dubbed Friendship 2016, starting from Sept 24 till Oct 10, 2016. These are the first ever special drills in mountainous terrain for which 200 soldiers of Russian army have arrived.
After Uri attack, India attempted to create confusion regarding the exercise and announced that these were cancelled, however Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Qazi Khalilullah rebuffed Indian propaganda and confirmed that the military exercise will take place as scheduled.
