The shooter slaughtered in a stand-off with Dallas police said he needed to murder white individuals, particularly officers, the city's police boss has said.
The suspect, named by US media as Micah Johnson, 25, said he was disturbed in regards to the late police shootings of dark individuals, Police Chief David Brown said.
Five Dallas cops were executed and seven injured by expert marksmen amid a walk against the shooting of dark men by police, authorities say.
Three individuals are in guardianship.
Mr Brown said the suspect had been executed when police utilized explosives set by a robot to end a strained stand-off in a building where he was stayed. Prior to that he had addressed an arbitrator.
"He said he was disturbed in regards to Black Lives Matter [protest movement]; he said he was vexed in regards to the late police shootings," Mr Brown told a news meeting.
"The suspect said he was annoyed with white individuals. The suspect expressed that he needed to execute white individuals, particularly white officers."
Mr Brown included that the man had said he was not partnered with any gatherings and he acted alone. Notwithstanding, police had beforehand said they trusted that more than one shooter was included.
US media said Micah Johnson was from Mesquite, an eastern suburb of Dallas.

Gunfire broke out at around 20:45 neighborhood time on Thursday (01:45 GMT Friday) as demonstrators walked through the city. There was frenzy as individuals mixed for spread. Police depicted the trap as precisely arranged and executed.
The dissents came after the current week's passings of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.
The mother of one of Alton Sterling's five kids reviled the Dallas killings, saying in an announcement through her legal counselor that "reacting to savagery with brutality is not the answer".
"Our hearts break for the groups of the officers," Quinyetta McMillon said.

President Barack Obama, who is going to a Nato summit in Poland, called it a "horrible, ascertained and detestable assault on law implementation".
Talking prior, Mr Brown said the suspects were accepted to have been cooperating, utilizing rifles to do assaults while the dissent rally was attracting to a nearby.
