 Whatsapp message against beef ban claims life of Muslim youth

NEW DELHI: An Indian Muslim youth, arrested for sending message on Whatsapp against ban on beef, died in police custody on Sunday, Indian media reported.


The Indian Express reported that Muslim youth, Minhaj Ansari,22, along with a few other people was detained on October 03 from Jamtara district in Jharkhand. The others were later released.
The young boy was brutally tortured in the policy custody and less than a week, he died at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Sunday.

According to police, a WhatsApp message that purportedly made an objectionable comment about beef started doing the rounds in Dighari village of Narayanpura, in Jamtara district, on October 2, the Indian Express report said.
Minhaj Ansari’s family claimed their boy was beaten up and tortured in police custody and later shifted to hospital where he died two days later.
